Pilates Moves You Can Do Anywhere

The summer months seem to be a busy time of year for many of us. Between traveling, sports, concerts or time with friends, you may struggle to find time to stick with your Pilates routine. But the reality is you really do have time to stick to your wellness routine. Think about it - if you have time to look at social media, you have time for Pilates :).

In this blog post, we wanted to share our favorite Pilates moves that can easily be done on-the-go.

Seated Torso Twist

  1. Grab a chair and sit tall with your feet flat on the ground about hip-distance apart.

  2. Place your hands behind your head.

  3. Keep your pelvis steady while twisting your torso to the right as far as you comfortably can

  4. Return to center and repeat on the other side.

This move is my favorite to do after a long day of travel.

Swan

  1. Lie on your stomach with your legs extended straight and arms close to your body.

  2. Engage your abdominals, lifting your belly button away from the mat.

  3. Inhale. Lengthen your spine while pressing your hands and forearms into the mat creating a long upward arc of your upper body.

  4. Exhale leaving your abs lifted as you release the arc you have created.

  5. Lengthen your spine while returning your abdominal muscles to the mat.

I should mention, this move is perfect for vacation or when you’re at the beach. I highly recommend using a mat if you have one available.

Neck Stretch

  1. Sit looking straight ahead

  2. Tilt your right ear towards your right shoulder, while ensuring your left shoulder does not move.

  3. Place your right hand just above your left ear and apply a bit of pressure to further your stretch.

  4. Repeat this stretch on the other side.

I always get so sore from sleeping in hotel beds. This move is the perfect move to do after a rough night of sleep.
